Meet the Norwegian Luna
Norwegian Cruise Line’s second Prima Plus Class ship, the Norwegian Luna, is now on the waves. Christened in March, Luna has a maximum capacity of about 4,200 passengers and a modern, boutique-hotel vibe. While Luna has a lot in common with the Norwegian Aqua, the ship also has some unique features, beginning with the hull art: a sophisticated dreamscape by muralist ELLE, who is Luna’s godparent.
Luna’s cabins are another design highlight,
with sleek furnishings that contribute to a spacious feel. There’s good storage,
including full-length closets, wire basket drawers, deep shelves and convenient
wall hooks. And while the thoughtfully designed bathrooms are still compact,
they are a little more spacious than on other Norwegian ships.
For solo
cruisers, Luna has more than 70 studio staterooms specifically designed
for one. They come with keycard access to the Studio Lounge, which offers
beverages, snacks, and the opportunity to chat with other solo travelers.
Luna also has the Norwegian fleet’s largest
Haven complex, the line’s luxury ship-within-a-ship concept. There are more
than 120 Haven suites with access to an exclusive sundeck, infinity pool,
lounge, restaurant, and more.
Like the Aqua,
Luna’s dining options include complimentary venues and specialty
restaurants, with established favorites like Cagney’s Steakhouse, Le Bistro and
Hasuki. Luna also highlights the delicious flavors of Thai cuisine in
its Sukhothai restaurant (a Prima Plus Class exclusive). And, Luna’s
Indulge Food Hall has the line’s first plant-based eatery, Planterie, featuring
healthy salads, grain bowls and smoothies.
In addition
to the Game Zone arcade, Luna features the Luna Midway, a collection
of carnival-style games. There’s also a new, harness-free ropes and climbing
course called the Moon Climber (don’t worry, there are plenty of safety nets). And
– as on the Aqua – the Luna’s Slidecoaster, a thrilling hybrid
rollercoaster/water slide, ends near a walk-in dryer that can take you from
soaked to dry in three minutes.
The new ship
also features new evening entertainment. Elton – A Celebration of Elton John
is a treat for the ears and eyes, with four grand pianos and terrific costumes.
HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder is a multi-sensory experience with lasers,
pyrotechnics, and acrobatics. And, the LunaTique Pop Circus is a sexy, cabaret-style
show just for adults.
There’s much
more to the Norwegian Luna, so talk with Anita, your professional travel
advisor, about sailing to the Bahamas, to the Eastern or Western Caribbean, or
to Bermuda on this new ship.
