The Sweetest Bathrooms at Sea

Most cruise ship bathrooms are designed to be functional and efficient – giving you all of the essentials, even though they’re contained in a small space. And that’s fine with lots of cruise fans. After all, many don’t spend much time in their cabins or their bathrooms, because they spend as much time as they can on shore and enjoying spaces all around the ship.

But if you enjoy luxuriating in a bath with ample space and high-end amenities, you can find one on a cruise ship (usually attached to a suite). Here’s a look at some of the truly opulent bathrooms at sea.

The heated floors in Viking Cruises’ Explorer Suite bathrooms will keep your toes cozy; the towel racks are heated, too. There are beautiful dual sinks and large shower enclosures that include full-size bathtubs. Explorer Suites are on all of Viking’s ships, both river-going and ocean-going.

If you and your cruise companion are used to having your own bathroom spaces at home, check out the Grand Duplex Suites on Cunard Lines’ Queen Mary 2. These two-level suites have space for two marble-clad toilet areas, complete with bidets, as well as a spacious walk-in shower and full-size, elevated bathtub. And, it’s all connected with two separate dressing areas.

Celebrity Cruises’ Reflection Suite – found only on the Celebrity Reflection – is a two-bedroom suite with an incredible primary bathroom. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide stunning views, and the glass-walled shower actually cantilevers over the side of the ship. And if this suite’s full-size, jetted bathtub isn’t enough, there’s another one on the veranda.

Several Royal Caribbean ships feature the Royal Loft Suite, a two-bedroom suite with a showstopping primary bathroom. A tiled enclosure with a large soaking tub and multiple shower heads overlooks the water, while a separate toilet enclosure also houses a bidet.

If you’re traveling with several family members or friends, The Haven suite complexes aboard Norwegian Cruise Line’s Jewel-Class ships offer three-bedroom Garden Villas with gorgeous bathrooms. The primary bathroom features twin sinks, a separate vanity for hair and makeup, a full-size bathtub near an expansive window, and a large walk-in shower.

Luxury cruise lines like Regent Seven Seas, Seabourn Cruises, Crystal Cruises, and more are also known for some fabulous ensuite bathrooms. You can learn more about all of the options for treating yourself to a “sweet” bath on your next cruise from Anita, your professional travel advisor.
